KESSELHAUS

Thomas Scheibitz
Plateau mit Halbfigur
9 September 2018 – 12 May 2019
Opening: 8 September 2018, 5 pm

With a height of twenty metres, the Kesselhaus at the KINDL – Centre for Contemporary Art is a unique venue for art in Berlin. Following Roman Signer, David Claerbout, and Haegue Yang, now Thomas Scheibitz will continue the series of artists who have developed a site-specific work for this vast exhibition space.

With Plateau mit Halbfigur, Thomas Scheibitz will realise his largest work of sculpture to date at the KINDL. The development of this work—an intensive process of sculpting and determining the dimensions for the enormous space—took around one and a half years. The complex, multi-part sculpture, which is eight and a half metres tall at its highest point, blends into the cube-shaped Kesselhaus with surprising ease.
