Tag des offenen Denkmals

11 – 12 September 2021

Open Monuments Day has taken place throughout Germany since 1993 as part of the European Heritage Days coordinated by the Deutsche Stiftung Denkmalschutz. Every second Sunday in September (and in Berlin also on the preceding Saturday), architectural monuments, historical sites, and gardens are open to visitors.

With the former Kindl brewery building, the KINDL will also take part in Open Monuments Day this year. The historical Sudhaus with its six huge copper vats is featured on the cover of this year’s program booklet.

The Sudhaus will be open to visitors on 11 and 12 September 2021 from 12 to 6 pm. For the first time, guided tours on the architectural history of the KINDL will take place on Sunday, 12 September 2021 at 12 and 2 pm

On Open Monuments Day, the KINDL signs project is launched. It is conceived as a work in progress involving various collaborators, which examines the history of the site of the former Kindl brewery from a variety of perspectives. Multilingual signs point out important events in the site’s turbulent history. Over time, a polyphonic juxtaposition of events ranging from the 19th to the 21st centuries will be created. Visitors can access additional background information by scanning QR codes on the signs.
